Why Wild Force sells well in store

  • The Morty's Confidence SAR is the set's big draw: the card your customers ask about before they buy.
  • Only 3 gold URs in the whole expansion, so every box opening builds excitement.
  • 29 secret rares across 30 packs per box: it sells just as well as a sealed box, as single packs or in live openings.
  • Japanese edition: a favourite with collectors for its print quality and price per pack.

Which hit each customer is after, and how to use it to move the box.

  1. Morty's Confidence SAR (097/071) from Wild Force SV5K, illustrated by Megumi Mizutani

    Top 1

Morty's Confidence SAR: the box headliner

    SAR · 097/071Illustration: Megumi Mizutani

Morty, Johto's Ghost-type Gym Leader, is a character every fan of Pokémon Gold and Silver recognises. Megumi Mizutani’s Morty's Confidence SAR is the card most customers buy Wild Force for, and the name you will hear most at the counter.

Shop tip: use Morty as the face of the box in the window and on social media. Trainer SARs have a loyal audience who buy for the illustration.

  2. Gouging Fire ex UR (098/071) from Wild Force SV5K, illustrated by 5ban Graphics

    Top 2

Gouging Fire ex UR: the gold card for openings

    UR · 098/071Illustration: 5ban Graphics

Gouging Fire, the ancient Paradox form of Entei, is the set’s star Pokémon, and its gold UR is the card everyone wants to see pulled. A gold card of the headline Pokémon turns any live opening, giveaway or in-store event into something people follow until the last pack.

If you run openings online or in store, this is the card that builds excitement, and it gives the box a reason to buy that has nothing to do with Morty.

  3. Eri SAR (096/071) from Wild Force SV5K, illustrated by DOM

    Top 3

    Eri SAR: for Trainer collectors

    SAR · 096/071Illustration: DOM

Eri, one of the Team Star squad bosses in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, has a SAR by DOM. She appeals to younger customers who know her from the recent games, and with Morty she makes Wild Force a box with two Trainer SARs.

Her SR (91) is a second version of the same Trainer for customers who do not want to wait for the SAR.

  4. Gouging Fire ex SAR (093/071) from Wild Force SV5K, illustrated by TeeziroWalking Wake ex SAR (094/071) from Wild Force SV5K, illustrated by TeeziroRaging Bolt ex SAR (095/071) from Wild Force SV5K, illustrated by Teeziro

    Top 4

Gouging Fire, Walking Wake and Raging Bolt ex SAR: the Teeziro trio

SAR · 093/071Gouging Fire exIllustration: TeeziroSAR · 094/071Walking Wake exIllustration: TeeziroSAR · 095/071Raging Bolt exIllustration: Teeziro

The three ancient Paradox SARs share an illustrator, Teeziro, and are collected as a series. Customers nostalgic for Johto’s legendary beasts want all three, and that means repeat box sales.

Shop tip: display all three together so customers can see at a glance which ones they are still missing.

  5. Walking Wake ex UR (099/071) from Wild Force SV5K, illustrated by takuyoaRaging Bolt ex UR (100/071) from Wild Force SV5K, illustrated by aky CG Works

Walking Wake ex and Raging Bolt ex UR: more gold in the box

UR · 099/071Walking Wake exIllustration: takuyoaUR · 100/071Raging Bolt exIllustration: aky CG Works

The set’s other two URs are also ancient Paradox Pokémon, so all three gold cards in Wild Force are Pokémon. For customers opening live, that means more chances of a gold moment in the same box.

  6. Gengar ex SR (088/071) from Wild Force SV5K, illustrated by Satoshi ShiraiGastly AR (080/071) from Wild Force SV5K, illustrated by Mousho

    Top 6

Gengar ex SR and Gastly AR: the Ghost-type nod

    SR · 088/071Gengar exIllustration: Satoshi ShiraiAR · 080/071GastlyIllustration: Mousho

Gengar has been one of the best-loved Ghost-type Pokémon since Kanto, and in Wild Force it has an SR plus a Gastly AR that fit Morty’s theme. ARs turn up far more often than SARs, so they are an achievable target.

If you sell single packs, they are your best argument for customers coming back for "one more pack".

Wild Force (SV5K) fact sheet for your shop

Wild Force is the SV5K expansion of the Scarlet & Violet era, released in Japan on 26 January 2024, the same day as its twin set Cyber Judge. Each booster box holds 30 packs of 5 cards, with a 71-card set and 29 secret rares (072 to 100): 5 SAR, 3 UR, 9 SR and 12 AR.

The set focuses on the ancient Paradox Pokémon of Johto's legendary beasts: Gouging Fire (Entei), Raging Bolt (Raikou) and Walking Wake (Suicune), each as an SR, a SAR and a gold UR. Alongside them come Morty, Johto's Ghost-type Gym Leader, and Eri of Team Star. For customers following the ancient Paradox Pokémon, it pairs well with Ancient Roar, led by Roaring Moon ex, and with Crimson Haze, the next subset.

Wild Force FAQ

Where can I buy Wild Force booster boxes wholesale?

Don Bananza is a Pokémon card distributor for shops and verified trade customers: we supply the Wild Force Japanese booster box with wholesale pricing for approved customers and shipping from Spain across Europe, subject to availability.

Which card sells the Wild Force box?

The Morty's Confidence SAR (097/071) is the big draw, and the gold Gouging Fire ex UR (098/071) is the one that builds excitement at openings. The Eri SAR (096/071) follows, then the Gouging Fire ex (093/071), Walking Wake ex (094/071) and Raging Bolt ex (095/071) SARs.

Should I sell Wild Force as sealed boxes or single packs?

Both work. Collectors after Morty, the Gouging Fire UR or the trio of Paradox SARs buy the sealed box; single packs suit customers happy with an AR such as Gastly or Flutter Mane, which turn up more often.

What is in the Wild Force Japanese booster box?

30 packs of 5 cards (150 cards in total). The set has 71 cards and 29 secret rares: 5 SAR, 3 UR, 9 SR and 12 AR.

Are Wild Force and Cyber Judge the same box?

No. They are twin expansions released in Japan on the same day, 26 January 2024, each with its own booster box. Wild Force (SV5K) is the ancient Paradox set and the one covered on this page.
