Which hit each customer is after, and how to use it to move the box.

Pikachu ex SAR, day and night: the box headliner

    SAR · 126/103Pikachu ex (day)Illustration: kantaroSAR · 127/103Pikachu ex (night)Illustration: kantaro

Pikachu is the Pokémon everyone recognises, and the anniversary set has two SARs that form a pair: the daytime parade and the same party at night, both by kantaro.

Shop tip: advertise the box with both together. Because they are a pair, customers who pull one tend to come back for the other.

  2. Gengar ex SAR (131/103) from 30th Celebration M6a, illustrated by CHORISOJirachi ex SAR (132/103) from 30th Celebration M6a, illustrated by AKIRA EGAWA

Gengar ex and Jirachi ex SAR: the second big reason to buy

SAR · 131/103Gengar exIllustration: CHORISOSAR · 132/103Jirachi exIllustration: AKIRA EGAWA

After Pikachu, these are the most requested SARs. Gengar is a first-generation favourite and Jirachi, the Wish Pokémon, has plenty of fans: two cards that sell the box on their own even if the Pikachu does not show up.

Use them on social media alongside the Pikachu: three very different cards that reach different audiences.

  3. Moltres AR (105/103) from 30th Celebration M6a, illustrated by mashuArticuno AR (107/103) from 30th Celebration M6a, illustrated by mashuZapdos AR (108/103) from 30th Celebration M6a, illustrated by mashu

    AR · 105/103MoltresIllustration: mashuAR · 107/103ArticunoIllustration: mashuAR · 108/103ZapdosIllustration: mashu

The three legendary birds of Kanto, all by the same artist (mashu), make a trio customers want to complete. As ARs they turn up more often, so they encourage “one more pack” until all three are in the binder.

If you sell single packs, they are your best argument, especially with customers nostalgic for the first generation.

  4. Mewtwo ex FUR (134/103) from 30th Celebration M6a, illustrated by YOSHIROTTENMew ex FUR (135/103) from 30th Celebration M6a, illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN

The Futuristic Rare debuts in this set and there are only two. It is the “new” card everyone is talking about, which makes it the best reason to run live openings, giveaways or in-store events.

  5. Mewtwo ex SAR (128/103) from 30th Celebration M6a, illustrated by Yano KeijiMew ex SAR (129/103) from 30th Celebration M6a, illustrated by Kuroimori

The original legendary pair attracts veteran collectors who started with the cards in the 90s, exactly the customers the 30th anniversary brings back into your shop. With a SAR and a FUR each, there are four cards to chase.
