The cards that sell Violet ex

Which hit each customer is after, and how to use it to move the box.

  1. Miriam SAR (105/078) from Violet ex SV1V, illustrated by Akira Komayama

    Top 1

    Miriam SAR: the box headliner

    SAR · 105/078Illustration: Akira Komayama

Miriam, the academy nurse in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, stars in Akira Komayama’s SAR, the card most customers buy Violet ex for. Here the big hit is not the legendary but a Trainer, and that draws a different collector from the one chasing Miraidon.

Shop tip: promote the box with Miriam in the window and on social media. For customers who do not want to wait for the SAR, the same Trainer also comes as an SR (100).

  2. Miraidon ex UR (106/078) from Violet ex SV1V, illustrated by 5ban Graphics

    Top 2

Miraidon ex UR: the box-opening hook

    UR · 106/078Illustration: 5ban Graphics

Miraidon is the cover legendary of Pokémon Violet, and its gold UR is the set’s second big card. A gold legendary turns any live opening, giveaway or in-store event into something people want to watch until the last pack.

If you run openings online or in store, this is the card that builds excitement and brings in new customers.

  3. Miraidon ex SAR (102/078) from Violet ex SV1V, illustrated by kantaro

    Top 3

Miraidon ex SAR: for fans of the legendary

    SAR · 102/078Illustration: kantaro

kantaro’s Miraidon ex SAR is the third card that sells the box. With the gold UR and the SR (94), Miraidon fans have three versions to chase in the same box, and it is the natural partner to the Koraidon ex SAR from Scarlet ex for anyone buying both.

  4. Arven SAR (104/078) from Violet ex SV1V, illustrated by kantaroArven SR (099/078) from Violet ex SV1V, illustrated by GIDORA

    Top 4

Arven SAR and SR: the box’s second Trainer

    SAR · 104/078ArvenIllustration: kantaroSR · 099/078ArvenIllustration: GIDORA

Arven, a student at the academy in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, has a SAR also by kantaro and an SR by GIDORA. Together with Miriam, he makes Violet ex a very appealing box for Trainer collectors, who buy regardless of Miraidon.

  5. Iron Treads ex SAR (103/078) from Violet ex SV1V, illustrated by KEIICHIRO ITOSpidops ex SAR (101/078) from Violet ex SV1V, illustrated by Miki Tanaka

    Top 5

Iron Treads ex and Spidops ex SAR: for completists

SAR · 103/078Iron Treads exIllustration: KEIICHIRO ITOSAR · 101/078Spidops exIllustration: Miki Tanaka

The set’s other two SARs are Iron Treads ex by KEIICHIRO ITO, the future Paradox Pokémon from Pokémon Violet, and Spidops ex by Miki Tanaka. Customers collecting every SAR never skip one, and Iron Treads suits anyone who follows the Paradox Pokémon.

  6. Pachirisu AR (084/078) from Violet ex SV1V, illustrated by zigPawmot AR (085/078) from Violet ex SV1V, illustrated by Kouki Saitou

    Top 6

Pachirisu and Pawmot AR: what drives single-pack sales

    AR · 084/078PachirisuIllustration: zigAR · 085/078PawmotIllustration: Kouki Saitou

ARs turn up far more often than SARs, and Violet ex has crowd-pleasers such as Pachirisu and Pawmot. They are an achievable target for customers who buy a couple of packs and want to take home an illustrated card.

Shop tip: if you sell single packs, they are your best argument for customers coming back for "one more pack".

Don Bananza is a Pokémon card distributor for shops and verified trade customers: we supply the Violet ex Japanese booster box with wholesale pricing for approved customers and shipping from Spain across Europe, subject to availability.

Which card sells the Violet ex box?

Should I sell Violet ex as sealed boxes or single packs?

Both work. Collectors after the Miriam SAR or the Miraidon ex versions buy the sealed box; single packs suit customers happy with an AR such as Pachirisu or Pawmot, or trying their luck with a couple of packs at an opening.

What is the difference between Violet ex and Scarlet ex?

30 packs of 5 cards (150 cards in total). The set has 78 cards and 30 secret rares: 5 SAR, 3 UR, 10 SR and 12 AR.

When was Violet ex released?

Violet ex is the SV1V expansion, the first of Scarlet & Violet alongside Scarlet ex, and was released in Japan on 20 January 2023.
