Why Paradise Dragona sells well in store

  • The Latias ex SAR is the set's big draw: the card your customers ask about before they buy.
  • Only 3 gold URs in the whole expansion, so every box opening builds excitement.
  • 30 secret rares across 30 packs per box: it sells just as well as a sealed box, as single packs or in live openings.
  • Japanese edition: a favourite with collectors for its print quality and price per pack.

The cards that sell Paradise Dragona

Which hit each customer is after, and how to use it to move the box.

  1. Latias ex SAR (087/064) from Paradise Dragona SV7a, illustrated by OKACHEKE

    Top 1

Latias ex SAR: the box headliner

    SAR · 087/064Illustration: OKACHEKE

Latias is one of the best-loved Legendary Pokémon from Hoenn, with a loyal following that goes well beyond players: it appeals to people who collected as children and to illustration collectors alike. OKACHEKE’s SAR is the card most customers buy Paradise Dragona for.

Shop tip: make it the cover of your window display and social posts. Put the Latios AR by the same illustrator (070) next to it and customers immediately see that the pair is in the same box.

  2. Alolan Exeggutor ex UR (092/064) from Paradise Dragona SV7a, illustrated by aky CG Works

    Top 2

Alolan Exeggutor ex UR: the gold card everyone wants to see

UR · 092/064Illustration: aky CG Works

Alolan Exeggutor, with its endless neck, is one of those Pokémon everyone finds funny, and seeing it in gold has real charm. It is the set’s Pokémon UR and the card that gets the most reaction when it turns up at an opening.

If you run live or in-store openings, this is the moment people remember and share. It also has its own SAR (089) and SR (081), so its collectors have three versions to chase.

  3. Lisia's Appeal SAR (091/064) from Paradise Dragona SV7a, illustrated by Nobusawa/Mochipuyo

    Top 3

Lisia's Appeal SAR: for Trainer collectors

    SAR · 091/064Illustration: Nobusawa/Mochipuyo

Lisia, the Pokémon Contest star of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, headlines the set’s Trainer SAR, illustrated by Nobusawa/Mochipuyo. Trainer SARs have their own buyers, who come for the box even if dragons leave them cold: a second reason to buy that does not depend on Latias.

The SR of the same card (086) is an alternative for customers who want Lisia without waiting for the SAR.

  4. Alolan Exeggutor ex SAR (089/064) from Paradise Dragona SV7a, illustrated by Yuriko Akase

    Top 4

Alolan Exeggutor ex SAR: the other side of the same hit

    SAR · 089/064Illustration: Yuriko Akase

Yuriko Akase’s SAR completes the collection for anyone chasing the gold UR. It is a second chance to pull Exeggutor from the same box.

Yuriko Akase also illustrated the Exeggcute AR (065), a detail illustrator collectors appreciate.

  5. Archaludon ex SAR (088/064) from Paradise Dragona SV7a, illustrated by Shinya MizunoDrayton SAR (090/064) from Paradise Dragona SV7a, illustrated by DOM

    Top 5

Archaludon ex and Drayton SAR: for dragon fans

    SAR · 088/064Archaludon exIllustration: Shinya MizunoSAR · 090/064DraytonIllustration: DOM

Archaludon ex, by Shinya Mizuno, is the Steel-and-Dragon Pokémon introduced in Scarlet & Violet, and Drayton, in DOM’s SAR, is the set’s dragon-specialist Trainer. Both appeal to customers who come in looking for exactly what the box name promises: dragons.

With these two, Paradise Dragona’s five SARs split interest between Pokémon and Trainers, so the box has buyers across more than one profile.

  6. Latios AR (070/064) from Paradise Dragona SV7a, illustrated by OKACHEKEFlapple AR (074/064) from Paradise Dragona SV7a, illustrated by UninoriAppletun AR (075/064) from Paradise Dragona SV7a, illustrated by MINAMINAMI Take

    Top 6

Latios, Flapple and Appletun AR: what drives single-pack sales

    AR · 070/064LatiosIllustration: OKACHEKEAR · 074/064FlappleIllustration: UninoriAR · 075/064AppletunIllustration: MINAMINAMI Take

ARs turn up far more often than SARs. Latios is the favourite because it pairs with the Latias SAR, and Flapple and Appletun go down well with younger customers.

Shop tip: if you sell single packs, they are your best argument for customers coming back for "one more pack".

Paradise Dragona (SV7a) fact sheet for your shop

Paradise Dragona is the SV7a expansion of the Scarlet & Violet era, released in Japan on 13 September 2024. Each booster box holds 30 packs of 5 cards, with a 64-card set and 30 secret rares (065 to 094): 5 SAR, 3 UR, 10 SR and 12 AR.

The set is built around the Dragon type: Latias ex, Archaludon ex, Black Kyurem ex and Flygon ex among the Pokémon, plus dragon specialists such as Drayton and Drasna among the Trainers. It is a theme that sells itself to dragon fans and to fans of Latias and Latios, who share an illustrator here. It arrived after Stellar Miracle, which shares Archaludon (an AR there, a SAR here), and customers after more Trainers from the same period will find them in Night Wanderer.
